What data do we collect?
 IGI collects the following data:

  • Personal identification information (Email address, date of birth, IP, etc.)
How do we collect your data?
You directly provide IGI with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  • Register online.
  • Use or view our website via your browser's cookies.
  • Share information in a forum post or private message.
IGI may also receive your data indirectly from the following sources:

  • Information shared about you in others' posts.  See our forum rules for more information about what other members can and cannot share about you.
How will we use your data?
IGI collects your data so that we can:

  • Verify your user account and age to register for the forum
  • Email you with notices from the admin
  • Identify duplicate accounts.
In addition, we allow search engine indexing so other users can find our site.  The only information gathered is public information available in posts.  You can see what is indexed by first logging out, and then clicking the "Sitemap" button at the bottom of our forum.

How do we store your data?
IGI securely stores your data in a password-protected database. We will keep your data for the life of this site. If for some reason you need data to be removed, please contact a site administrator.

We do not store your password. Instead, we store a "salted hash," which is a code that we compare to an encrypted code that your computer sends us to verify that you know what your password is. This means that the administrators of our site are not able to determine your password by looking at the database, since your password is never actually sent to our site.  This also means that we can never verify your identity by asking for your password.  If someone claiming to be a member of our staff ever asks for your password, it is a scam and should be reported to the administrators immediately.

In the event that our database were ever breached, a hacker would have access to your personal information listed above, as well as the contents of private messages, posts to private member groups, and other information not publicly available on the forum.  A hacker would not have access to your password, because we do not store your password in our database.  It is extremely difficult and time consuming to reverse engineer the salted hash, which means that it is unlikely that a hacker would be able to decipher your password in the event of a data breach.  However, it is not completely impossible, so if we ever became aware of such a breach, we would recommend that you change your password on this and any other site where you use that password immediately.

Marketing
IGI does not participate in any marketing.  We will never sell your data and in no way profit from your use of the site.

What are your data protection rights?
IGI would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request IGI for copies of your personal data.
The right to rectification – You have the right to request that IGI correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request IGI to complete the information you believe is incomplete.
