That bridge collapse was crazy. I know a thing or two about that subject growing up where I did. Sad that workers died doing their job, sad anyone dies but... ||popcorn||

It's the Watercooler Talk Thread.  ||beerchug||
Or the Wine Cooler Talk Thread.
||grin||

QuoteWatercooler talk is those casual, chatty conversations that happen in the office or any social gathering spot, often centered around non-work topics. It's where coworkers discuss everything from the latest TV shows to weekend plans, sharing anecdotes, and bonding over shared interests.

It's the triple P thread:

we never did watercoolers back when i wore a tie. we would go out and smoke on the benches in front of the office.

i got rid of almost all my clothes when i left office life and became a commercial beekeeper. i havent owned a necktie in 30 years.

i havent missed a thing

the total eclipse of the sun will be 08 april in ohio. next one is twenty years.

my wife and the remaining at-home offspring both want me to go with them 100 miles north to see it.

i say, i can see most of it without driving 100 miles.

its not the same.

i have to work that monday.

call in sick.

i cant do that. we work on a limited off-day system and im all used up.

youre asocial. youll be dead by the next one . . .

so anyway, today i called my boss and said, look, im supposed to be off the saturday before the monday eclipse. what if i work that saturday and take monday off instead?

hes thinking. chances are good because that saturday is a very busy day in my company and he needs warm bodies.

so i may see the eclipse. if i dont, i will be 88 years old when the next one comes around.

or dead, which will be okay.
may you bathe i the blood of a thousand sheep

Ironically, the myriad  of "god" beliefs of humanity are proving to be more dangerous than us learning that we are on our own, making the way we treat each other far more important

Meat

I can't keep up with eclipses but I know a major one was in 78 or 79. I was waiting at the bus stop and I peeked. Oops.

(Or the men leaving their men) My class is Master 5 Blue Belt, 208. His is No-gi, 188.5 Beginner although, he placed 3rd in state his senior year in wrestling. Not a beginner to grappling but... Stay tuned.   ||popcorn||

No politics so I won't discuss what I think of Inslee. I'm in favor of this even though this is where I hang sometimes. We've jacked-up just about everything and everywhere so why not give this a try?

I'm always puzzled about attitudes towards Wolves yet these same dopes will have 2 Labradors for ducks and a pointer for birds, one Yorkie for their lady at home. Wolves are the coolest creature ever in my opinion. So smart and team players. Gee, there's a concept. Lol.  ||popcorn||

Yes, but what makes these three special is that "island" or land formation inside of them.
I didn't know there were so many.

those are all calderas. large volcanoes that blew out and left a large hole. subsequent activity produces the smaller cone in tbe middle of the hole.

krakatoa was another. it blew completely apart

Yeah, I recall seeing a few like that but I guess it's kinda rare for there to still be a complete ring? I've seen others but with openings.

if it blows up on land theres no ocean to fill the cracks. taal is inland, and so its a lake, not a seaway.

at taal, there used to be a restaurant up on the rim, where you could stuff youirself with ice creamed-filled coconuts and look into the crater. dunno what its like now.

lots of people died down inside it in 1965, living on the island.

an island inside the rim of an active volcano is not a good place to live, but go figure. i think there were 1000 peopl ein there? couple hundred died
