I'm a World Champion you know. I started supporting the USA in women's football in 2016, and we won the Women's World Cup in 2019.

The 2023 World Cup starts tomorrow, with Norway (my 8th favourite team) playing New Zealand.

My predictions for the final games in Group A:

Norway 2 Philippines 0
New Zealand 1 Switzerland 1

I was close. Norway won; it was 6-0 though. And Switzerland and New Zealand drew 0-0.

The biggest surprise of the tournament happened yesterday. Germany 1 Colombia 2!

Canada and Brazil have both got knocked out in the 1st round!

USA v Sweden in the 2nd round should be a very good match!

Canada, Brazil AND Germany all out in the 1st round!

Here's some predictions for the 2nd round:

Switzerland 1 Spain 0
Norway 2 Japan 2; 2-2 after extra time; Norway on penalties
Netherlands 4 South Africa 1
USA 1 Sweden 2 !!
Australia 1 Denmark 1; 3-1 after extra time
Colombia 1 Jamaica 0
France 4 Morocco 1

And now USA are out!! I didn't think either team played particularly well. Did the tension just get to them?

And the decisive penalty must have been at most a millimetre over the line!

Why would she do that?

Anyway, I didn't do very well with my predictions. I got Colombia v Jamaica spot on, but the closest to being correct other than that were Netherlands v South Africa and France v Morocco, which were the least difficult to predict.

I can't prove it obviously but I know what she did and so do many others.

4 of my favourite teams went out in the 1st round; 2 went out in the 2nd round; 4 are through to the quarter-finals. And none of them are playing each other in the quarter-finals, so it's possible that they could all get through to the semi-finals.

Here's my predictions for the quarter-finals:

Spain 1 Netherlands 1; 1-1 after extra time. Spain to win on penalties
Sweden 2 Japan 1
Australia 1 France 3
Colombia 0 England 0 ; 1-0 to Colombia after extra-time

I got the first 2 quarter-final predictions spot on as far as the result after 90 minutes is concerned. I didn't do so well with the other 2 though.

Only 1 of my favourite teams got through to the semi-finals.

6 days left to enjoy being a World Champion.

And the 1 of my favourite teams that were still in it lost in the semi-final!  ||smileysad||

Goal of the tournament: Linda Caicedo's goal (Colombia's 1st) against Germany, or Esmee Brugts's goal (Netherlands's 6th) against Vietnam.

Best match: France 6 Panama 3; or possibly Germany 1 Colombia 2.
