καὶ ἡ σκοτία αὐτὸ οὐ κατέλαβεν.

Mr. Blackwell

Terrorism IS a fact of life. So is poverty and wealth and pedophilia and medical malpractice and love and hate and politics and religion and corruption and kindness and selfless sacrifice and charity and blindness and cancer and science and laughter and tears and dialogue and demagogues and sunshine and rain and heartache and toothache and happiness and life and death.

Should we accept any of these things? What choice do we have?

We fight against the things we don't like. That's what we do. I do not like terrorism, however I do accept that it IS a part of life, but I will fight against it's influence and practice as much as I can...in all of it's forms as I see it.

Taliban Target Scholars of Islam

?The reason the Taliban resort to such acts is that they want to make sure their legitimacy is not questioned by the sermons of these [religious scholars]?

?The only thing that undermines their legitimacy is the ability and power of these [religious scholars] if they preach and argue against them, only they can challenge the Taliban?s ideology, not the liberal scholars or others, and the Taliban understand that.?

I begin today by acknowledging the Ngarluma people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which I work and live, and pay my respects to their Elders past and present. I extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

were the "Sons of Liberty" terrorists?

the answer is yes.

QuoteThe Sons of Liberty popularized the use of tar and feathering to punish and humiliate offending government officials starting in 1767. This method was also, used against British Loyalists, during the American Revolution. This punishment had long been used by sailors to punish their mates.[10]

QuoteIn Boston, another example of violence could be found in their treatment of local stamp distributor Andrew Oliver. They burned his effigy in the streets. When he did not resign, they escalated to burning down his office building. Even after he resigned, they almost destroyed the whole house of his close associate Lieutenant Governor Thomas Hutchinson. It is believed that the Sons of Liberty did this to excite the lower classes and get them actively involved in rebelling against the authorities. Their actions made many of the stamp distributors resign in fear.

if the malcontents are on your side, they are called partisans, freedom fighters, activists, patriots, and guerrillas. if they are on the other side, they are called terrorists, militants, murderers, anarchists, and so on.

the key definition of terrorism, IMO, is the use of violence in a non-combat setting to achieve goals that cannot be reached through available legal means.

Most histories of terrorism begin with Israel.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_religious_terrorism#History
QuoteAccording to a paper authored by then Center for Defense Information research analyst Mark Burgess, the 1st century Jewish political and religious movement called Zealotry was one of the first examples of the use of terrorism by Jews. They sought to incite the people of Judaea Province to rebel against the Roman Empire and expel it from Israel by force of arms. The term Zealot, in Hebrew kanai, means one who is zealous on behalf of God. The most extremist groups of Zealots were called Sicarii. Sicarii used violent stealth tactics against Romans. Under their cloaks they concealed sicae, or small daggers, from which they received their name. At popular assemblies, particularly during the pilgrimage to the Temple Mount, they stabbed their enemies (Romans or Roman sympathizers, Herodians), lamenting ostentatiously after the deed to blend into the crowd to escape detection. In one account, given in the Talmud, Sicarii destroyed the city's food supply so that the people would be forced to fight against the Roman siege instead of negotiating peace. Sicarii also raided Jewish habitations and killed fellow Jews whom they considered apostates and collaborators.

And in the modern era:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionist_political_violence
QuoteZionist political violence refers to acts of violence committed by Zionists.

Actions have been carried out by individuals and Jewish paramilitary groups such as the Irgun, the Lehi, the Haganah and the Palmach as part of a conflict between Jews, British authorities, and Palestinian Arabs, regarding land, immigration, and control over Palestine.

Mervyn Paice and threatened to kill them in retaliation if the sentences were carried out. When the threat was ignored, the hostages were killed. Afterwards, their bodies were taken to an orange grove and left hanging by the neck from trees. An improvised explosive device was set. This went off when one of the bodies was cut down, seriously wounding a British officer. December 1947 ? March 1948 Numerous attacks on Palestinian Arabs in the context of civil war after the vote of the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine.

God and religion are not conveyances of Truth or Comfort.  They function as instruments of earthly social control.
