Hey Jay, you do realize this means that you're gonna have to dial back some of your stuff?

But whatever. I still thank you for stepping up and answering the call. As I thank Assy, Tish and Jezze for re-answering the call.

Dial back my posts?  why would I?

I have never had an actual rule infraction, and my 20 or so E1s spread out over 10,000 posts doesn't really sound like much to me.

I dont plan on changing my posting style at all.  I say what I want to say, when I feel I need to say something.  If I had to change my posting style, I would not have accepted the position.

And thanks for the thanks.  I just want to help the forum out.

Because as a moderator you're supposed to set a good example. You're authorized to judge Etiquette Violations, therefore you should be able to judge your own comments, and understand when they might be violations, and adjust them accordingly.

And if I break an etiquette violation, it is processed without my input, by other mods, using standardized guidelines, and I must adhere to the same standards of editing them as any other member.

This forum is a team effort by ALL members.  The mods are no different than members in that aspect.  The day I put on a mod hat is no different than the day before as a member for the way I 'lead by example'. Just like you should be leading by example as a member of this community.

I would say, with a few exceptions when I was not aware of precedent, when I broke an etiquette guideline, I did so knowingly.  And I will continue to do so knowingly when I want to.

Jay is well aware of the internal expectations for moderators.  I do not think he needs an outside consultant on the subject.

I admire his restraint in not falling for your incredibly transparent attempt at baiting him.

That's easy.  Instead of saying, "Hey Assy, can you help me with this?" I'll start saying, "Hey Assy, can you do this?"

I expect the above to take up 90% of my time.  The other 10% of my time will be divided evenly between eating, sleeping, and personal hygiene.  And of course the remaining 60% will be work.

So I should be good, right?

You should devote some more time to the personal hygiene.  Just some friendly advice.   ||whistling||

Thanks Gnu, thanks Jezz and Jay.

Greater scrutiny of admins and moderators is part of the turf.  I did some corner time back in the day - got way too emotionally invested in some situation.

But that's okay on IGI, you live to fight another day.

Thanks Moobs!

You've misunderstood me, Mooby. But I expressed myself badly, so I can see why.

My first comment to Jay about him changing his behaviour was indeed a tease, but it wasn't serious and I expected maybe a teasing comment from him in return.

My comments thereafter were expressed more definitively than they should have been. The sentences you quoted above should have been prefaced by my understanding is that.... or somesuch, or possibly expressed as questions.

My bad. Apologies to Jay if he also misunderstood my intent.

Jay

There is no need to apologize to me.  But thanks anyways.
