Surely we aren't still seen as invaders. I think we've blended in quite well. I didn't really think anyone was keeping "otter" track anymore, Ricky.

Yes, blended in very well.

Agree, the otters have greatly improved the forum.

it's   KRZKTMA............KRaZyKaTMAma.... ||PTW||... because of my certifiable psychotic kitty, Elijah. he's no longer here, but the name stuck. the 2 kitties i have now, Matti & Tovi, are, shall we say, interesting. they were both raised in cages for nearly a year (by a rescue group), so they have some neurotic behaviors. but they are beautiful, & hilarious.

yes, i've been lurking more than joining in. i've been sick w/ cellulitis, i had an IV in my arm for a week, for antibiotics. 2x a day i had to go in. fortunately my room mate was able to drive me in, the worst was on the weekend, by Mon i could drive- doctor's office only about 7 or 8 mins away from my home. @ night it was more like 20-25 mins, but i function better @ night.

we thought it was done, but a week ago i saw signs that the infection had returned, & my skin started blistering & breaking open again. so i'm on a different oral antibiotic for two weeks. & i have an appt. w/ an NP who's also a wound specialist. right now everything's closed, but from what i've read, i'll need the knowledge on treating & closing open wounds, cos there's a chance of this stuff reoccurring. @ least the bacteria involved was just regular staf, not one of the nastier ones.

Judo, i start reading, i'll have thoughts pop in, then see what i was gonna respond w/ already covered by someone else.  i admit i'm slow. one of the drawbacks of my regulars meds, etc.

y'all have always been faster than me in the forums.

Oh noes!!  Sounds dreadfully painful!  I have a brill treatment that I use for any open wounds, though nowhere near as bad as yours - mostly cat scratches, eye baths etc - colloidal silver.  I swear by it!  Clearly you wouldn't want to go against any advice from the doc, but it's worked really well for me, including the animals.  You can also drink it, but I don't do that.

Hope you're on the mend soon!   ||PTW||

thanks Tish.  ^good thing you haven't consumed it, it was on the list of supplements to avoid in the Sept issue of ConsumerReports. some people have had their skin turn bluish-gray, & one woman talked about needing lazer treatment to get her skin a normal color. but she's only done her face & neck, said it wasn't feasible to do the  rest of her body. people have also had kidney damage from the colloidal silver. the FDA issued a consumer advisory about it in late '09.

as long as i can keep the edema down, & the cat's claws off, i have a chance to keep my skin closed.

oh, yeah, it was painful, maybe cos of my Fibromyalgia, the nerve endings were quite nasty, but it's ok now, just the back & hip muscles acting up from having to sit w/ my leg elevated. can't really do a whole lot.

shan, i don't even know what the rules are. occasionally i get modded that something i have said is wrong. usually i politely tell the moderator that i won't change it. then i get dinged. i don't worry about it at all, and to be honest, corner time is a pretty toothless penalty. they're an opportunity to talk to people about other things.

worry not. when you get a PM from a moderator that says you are a miscreant, celebrate your new status! embrace your anti-social tendencies. wear the scarlet letter red badge of courage!

seriously, this rules business is important, because it was put in place to try to make sure that none of the administrators or moderators had excessive power. and it works pretty well.

but they're just rules, you know, so they will never make complete sense. don't worry about it. it's a crowded room in here, and occasionally people will bump their bottoms.

Like this, Kevin?
Lord, please give me patience because if you give me strength, I may just beat someone to death.

i was wondering when you were going to finally post something. wandering around like, and reading

yep. this is a place where normal rules of social intercourse (sorry) don't apply, because we can't see each other, and communication is through a keyboard and a screen. people get wound up with their typing fingers, and lots of small issues get blown up larger than they should.

the key is to mellow out. there are useful things to learn here, and the net relationships are real, and sometimes turn into face-to-face relationships too. so the real technique for buddha-esque equanimity is to relax and let the steam kettles rattle their own lids, but not to let them rattle yours.

and yes, you can bump my bottom anytime. i have a serious weakness for yellowheads.

people, it has come to my attention that a bunch of forum members who came here from farmville aren't feeling welcome, as if there was some sort of pecking order between 'real" members and them, as if they were being classed as some sort of anonymous wad of people that nobody listened to and nobody could tell apart.

bulls**t.

igi has a wide variety of people who participate. some are polite reflexively and some are rude reflexively. there is no group or clique of members here that has any greater level of respect or value than anybody else. yes, there are people who will claim that they can't tell the otters apart from each other, and there are people who will say that they don't pay attention to the otters because they're frivolous and a waste of time.

who do you think is the loser in that exchange? who do you think is displaying a lack of ordinary common manners there?

don't sweat the rude people, folks. there are people who will use discourtesy and rudeness as a rhetorical tool to put down and silence people who they don't want to listen to. ignore them. better yet, treat them better than they treat you so that the contrast is obvious.

i can tell you apart, even when dadzilla and luigi both trade dingleberries in their avatars. i have an interest in what you have to say, whether it's on a debate board or in a sexuality thread. and i'm not interested in having you leave because some jerk or set of jerks gets off on belittling you.

i have learned things that i consider important in conversation with you, and i don't even know for sure anymore who came here as an otter and who didn't, because it doesn't matter. you're here, and you have as much right to be here as anybody , and more value to the forum than some.

so stick around, please.

or i'll smite you

Sir
Thank you for taking the time to express your opinion of not only the recent theatrics, but of our immigration in general.  If we seem cliquish it is because we have all become friends in the old sense of the word.  A group where we feel free to be ourselves and not be offended when another tells us we are playing the fool.

When the Otters fled from Babylon and were wandering in the ether for 40 slices we knew there would be a new home for us.  Finding a home where such a divergent group would prosper would not be easy.  While of varied backgrounds and tastes our core principles of tolerance, respect, sense of fairness, humour, and a love of poorly coded Flash games would need to be allowed to flourish.

Every board has cliques and people cross between them all the time. In time I don't expect this board to be any different.  I think the only time any of the Farmville Exiles look at this as an Us vs Them instance is when an injustice or group attack is seen, whether real or perceived. Outside of that as long as its a fair fight, if you started it you finish it...

I hope this has addressed the issues you have raised in your correspondence, if not please feel free to contact us again.

We appreciate your interest

dang, i walk away from the truck to get a cup of coffee and that repulsive silly smiter takes over my account again and starts pontificating as if he was me. why can't he get his own account, if he's such a hot-shot uncorporeal anti-matter kind of guy?

i'm going to have to do something to safeguard my account against his random acts of impersonation.

Ricky, aka the photographer, isn't a schizo but he is a love sick (recently) net addicted but friendly geek with ADD.  ||wink||

Ricky the moose, aka the moose, is very sane and wise but his insights into humanity are frequently misunderstood by his subjects1.

Oh wait, two personalities on the same net account but they share a different physical body.

1- He has a ph'd in huminology and his thesis on the study of the insecure clueless beta male was a converted into a best selling book that was huge hit in the moose community.

Rules are a tough thing to get right, especially given the wide variety of beliefs represented and that the rules have to apply to everyone.  Some would like for there to be no rules at all.  Some don't think that people who disagree with them should even be allowed to post.  And in between those two extremes is everyone else, and it's hard to find two of them who agree.  It's been two years, and we're still tinkering with the rules.  They're not perfect, but I think it says something that they can accommodate people as different QM and Shawna, Ricky and Kerlyssa, SteveOx and Happy Evolute, and so many Otters.

my dear, please allow me to correct thy regrettable misapprehensions.
that oafish moose is indeed the local schizophrenic, although that is certainly a charitable assessment by all reasonable metrics.
and that son-of-a-, that son-of-a, well, that son person is also one whose interpretations
should cause thee no little skepticism, for his predelictions to unlawful dress and association
with like-minded degenerates leave all in question as to his motives, let alone his sanity

i however, come from different stuff, incorporeal, electronic-like, i move from hard drive to hard drive throughout
the net, able to visit thy chambers at will to view thy secrets from the cathode window in front of thee now
but never would i intrude nor impinge thy modesty
for my intentions are ever honorable and my methods true and wholesome

therefore o beautious creature of numerical perfection, such wondrous pinnacle of joyous double-entry
i must leave thee now to attend to more mundane yet ever-pressing duties

for smiting is my role in life, doomed to smite forever, random smites, deserved or undeserved, i am to be the agent of
the inescapable karma, yet one escape lies before me, should a hot accountant babe one day show up and grant me the
boon of one night of database tutelage my burdens are foretold to drop, my fetters to melt from my electronic limbs
like the stone of sysiphus one day rolled to final rest atop the mountain of his doom

so like how about it
