Welcome...! +1

Please tell us a little about you!

Jesus Christ died so you could have access to God.

80sChild

He's not as mean as he sounds! but he is my hubby so ask yourself what kinda man would you have to be to put up with 80sChild?? And you get your answer hahahaha!!! ?

80sHubby

Yes it was. I am 80s childs other half. Very proud of my wife and our Boys. We own and operate a commodities firm. We provide commodities in the form of grains, flours, dairy products and many other beneficial commodities to many different countries. I am the middle son of a wonderful Baptist Preacher who happens to be married to my mother who is a wonderful woman. A bit mis understood and high strung but a good woman. My wife is a beautiful, loyal, talented and smart woman who loves our family and is faithful to our beliefs. The fact that she is a bit hard headed came in handy while we were building our international business. My family is my life and when we are successful, we are successful together. When we fail, we fail together. My greatest gift in life was and is my Family. Life is not perfect but it would not be life if it was. Our Faith in Jesus guides us each day. We are followers of Jesus not religion. None of us are right all the time and there are times I am certain we get it wrong but we keep trying and hope that we can be an example to our Boys that they will grow up to be good Men in a world full of questionable characters. Debate is always healthy as long as each debater respects his or her adversary and their God given right to their own opinion. We are only as free as we let ourselves be. Most are chained by intellect that will not allow themselves to believe or have faith in a greater power. Some of us that believe are chained by a distorted man made view of God which is highly in accurate because the men who sanctioned these views desired to retain power over the population. In my view many Christians are as blind or mis led as those who choose not to believe. Life is a gift from God. The way in which we receive this gift is up to us. Be warned, being a christian by no means makes us passivist as i am sure some of you have realized by talking to my wife is that we bite back. Any and all respectful, decent and compassionate debate will be welcomed and treated as such;likwise, Idiots will be dealt with in an entirely different manner. God Bless and Baseball and Agriculture talk is always welcome.

Hi 80sHubby, welcome to the forum.

Are you a Mormon like your wife?

80sHubby

No sir I am not LDS. I was raised in a Southern Baptist home with a firm handle on faith. I do support my wife and our Boys as they pursue and participate in their faith and I am very proud of them for doing so in a sincere and contstructive faith which promotes love and discipline.

Greetings sir.  A small word of advice...

Idiots will be dealt with in an entirely different manner.

While I wholeheartedly support your position, be cautious about insulting individual memebers.  I stepped in it on my first couple posts (having come from "Why Won't God Heal Amputees" website, which is much less cordial than this place!!) and had to edit some posts because of insults.  I strongly recommend that you read the rules of the forum if you haven't already done so!

cheers, and enjoy your stay.  :-)

I admit that I'm not too familiar with all the denominations you have in the States (being British and all).

But it's cool that you and your wife can belong to different churches without that being a problem.

80sHubby

Thanks. I really do not plan on insulting anyone but un ruly folks will be met with hostility.

Thank you, in our household religious freedom is a personal choice. We agree on way more than we dis agree on. Jesus Christ is the common ground we share along with a convuction to raise or kids right and try and help those who may be less fortunate than we are.

some folks here may bait you in an attempt to get you reprimanded/banned if they think you could make a juicy target.  :-)  (I certainly won't do that though...)

Hi there 80sHubby. Welcome to IGI and a +1 for finding us. Your caveat sounds reasonable. A lot of folks here have the same attitude. Enjoy yourself here.

Some of us have a differing opinion about religious propoganda.

80sHubby

Propoganda? Not here man. I am just a simple Farm Boy from a small town. Left is really to the left. Propoganda is for show and to hide insecurities in ones religion.I have faith not religion. Religion is man made as to where faith is from deeply held convictions. If you do not believe the way I do then that is your right but a man or woman without convictions is like eating cold rice it is just never going to be that good. I do not need for anyone to believe the way I do nor do I care for the so called religious who will break the bank on a stray dog that has been hit by a car that they have no attatchments to but they will not help a person in need with a mere $10-$20 to get some food for his family. Hard times have hit some folks already amd there may be some hard time ahead for more than we can count. The propogandist will fade as to where those with conviction will be standing ready to share from the blessings they have received. It will not be luck but grace.

I don't have to address inconsistencies of religious propaganda when I can ask for evidence to support it, that is where it fails.

Your alleged gods are very bad god persons, I am offering them the chance to become good god persons for the very first time, but only after they admit they are bad god persons and want to try again.

I was raised Baptist but that is just the Church itself. Each individual should have a personal relationship with God. We are instructed to do unto others as we would have them unto us. We are to love thy neighbor and strive to be compassionate and kind. We believe that the closer we are to our Lord the more fullfilled we will be. In times of hardship we believe that it is in fact a time when we should be in prayer. Life on earth is temporary and someday the suffering will end. God wishes that no one should suffer nor perish. We should live by faith and by grace we should not just share our faith to others but we should live it.

Out of interest, do you tolerate rude behaviour in a woman?
