I've been here for awhile. I just read things, and I never really respond. A few of you know who I am because I'm dating Mooby, but I've barely posted. Here's a little hello and summary about me, and what I'm about.
I'm Brandi (don't care if you use my real name). I'm 20 years old, and I'm a junior at a large university in Pennsylvania that I absolutely love. I'm hoping to attend physician assistant school upon my graduation, and then from there I hope to work in a hospital somewhere taking care of the elderly, drunks, and drug-seekers of the country! (Meaning, I want to work in the emergency room ;)). I've been dating Mooby for almost 2 years now, and he has posted our whole "story" somewhere on this site if you're interested.
Growing up as a kid, my family never attended church. I went a couple of times with my childhood best friend, but I always felt awkward and out of place. This left me no ambition to seek further religious guidance from my parents. When I was a child, my sister, who was 4 years older than me, was my main influence. She was an atheist, and I grew to adopt her feelings.
When I was in high school, I was really spiritual, but I didn't believe in a deity. I had the idea that as we're full of energy, and the earth is full of energy, we're all basically one in the same after death. I justified it to myself following the rule that "energy is neither created nor destroyed," and so I believed in reincarnation of a sort. I think what I thought in high school was that when someone died, their spirit, or their energy, was just sent back into the earth. The energy there was then used in a new being to create a new spirit or soul. I believed that there were some things that were destined, and I still do to a point.
When I got to college, I started dating Mooby who was one of the first people who was interested in what I thought without feeling the need to force feed me religious information in the hopes of converting me. I read a couple of books on Buddhism and Taoism. I took a religion class that covered Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. I still believe in reincarnation. I'm not sure that I believe in the shared energy thing anymore, but I don't think this is my first life, and I certainly don't think this is my last.
I don't really give that much thought to what will happen after I die. I live my life according to the morals my parents instilled in me as a child, and I think that I'm a good person. I don't dwell too long on things that I know I can't change. I appreciate the things and the people that I have in my life as they come. I don't believe in a god, but it doesn't really bother me not having that in my life.
I suppose that's about all my general history of things pertinent to the site. It's 3:30am, so it may have rambled on a little, and I may not make sense, so my apologies ahead of time before you point it out. ;) Anyway, hello IGI. Sorry I didn't say hello a year ago when I joined. :)

I took a course in past lives with an ex-girl friend before. I don't dwell too long on things that I know I can't change. I appreciate the things and the people that I have in my life as they come.

They were just basic religion information books. They gave background on the religion and talked through some of the rituals (such as meditating in Buddhism). Things like that. They weren't anything too exciting. ;)
