Granted. However, the earth and Mars are separated by (at a minimum) 56 million miles, 2 million miles isn't going to get Mars into a habitable zone. Mars's minimum distance from the sun is 200 million miles or so. So making it habitable while moving it only 1% closer to the sun means a radical change in the sun's energy output. How much of a change, you might ask? (I know, you didn't, but you might) Well, EM radiation decreases in intensity by the square of the distance from the source. (By which I mean, currently the sun at the earth's equator puts out 1 kilowatt of energy per square meter. If we were to move twice as far away, we would receive only 1/4 the energy we currently do). So, on Mars, which is 1/3 further away from the sun than the earth is, they would receive receive about 1/1.3² * 1000 = 565 watts per square meter. Increasing this to 1000 watts per square meter so it's the same as earth requires the sun's output to just about double. As a result of the doubling of the sun's energy output, Earth becomes a searing inferno, and all life here dies, except for some particularly hardy bacteria.

I wish I had a photographic memory (and I don't mean the sort of memory which requires me to look at photographs in order to remember what happened 5 minutes ago).

Granted.  She gets impacted and has to go to the hospital to get cleaned out.  The doctor prescribes a daily enema to prevent this from happening again.  You are assigned to perform the enema on her, and as a bonus you get to inspect what comes out for blood and take a daily sample to ship to the lab.
