There are a variety of nonreligious, non 12 step programs that offer a more practical, secular approach to staying sober, some of which dispute the "disease" model of addiction. Rational Recovery (RR) and SOS are two such organizations. I was involved briefly with both of these organizations in the past, and I found them to be refreshing alternatives to AA, without the religious baggage.

Or you could view it as human anthropomorphic interpretation of animal behavior, when said behavior does not in fact map to the human behavior of 'smiling'. Much like, say, a religious interpretation of other natural phenomena as the expression of the will and emotion of an anthropomorphic god...  |

If humans created God in their own image, it makes sense to talk about God's mind. I don't see otherwise, how we'd even assume that god would have a "mind" at all. Would an all powerfull being benefit from something as physicaly limited as a mind such as ours?
